BIO

Born in Berkeley CA, Safiya Fredericks began acting at the Young Actors Workshop in Richmond, CA. She hails from a family steeped in musical and social justice traditions including her father Samuel of the iconic Oakland Art Gallery, and her mother Georgia who put her through school as a Social Worker. Safiya studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. 
She has worked steadily in theatre at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, ACT, Yale Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, South Coast Repertory, Magic Theatre and was the recipient of the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for Best Featured Actress for her work in Black Odyssey at CalShakes. You can see her in the films ‘Bitter Melon’ ‘Sorry to Bother You’ and the upcoming 'I'm Charlie Walker.'
